About Moxie

Moxie evolved from Numeric, a specialist search business focused on recruiting senior tax and private client advisors for the Big Four, mid-tier firms, boutique advisory practices, and family offices across New Zealand and Australia.

Over more than a decade, we recruited partners, directors, and senior advisers who worked directly with private business owners - understanding their challenges, their growth constraints, and the pivotal decisions that shaped outcomes.

That deep exposure to the advisory industry taught us something important: the advisors we placed understood that in private business, people decisions shape legacy. But the advisory firms we worked with rarely had time to help clients make those decisions well.

Over time, our clients - private business owners themselves - began asking us to work with them directly. Not just to recruit advisors, but to help solve the people problems advisors identified but couldn't address.

We rebranded to Moxie to reflect that shift. We now work exclusively with private and founder-led businesses - alongside their advisors - to define pivotal seats, assess the team, and fill critical gaps with the right people.

We still partner closely with the advisory industry. But our primary focus is now executive and leadership search for private business, supported by the advisory perspective we've spent nearly two decades building.

Ben Kershaw

Ben founded what became Moxie in 2007, initially recruiting tax advisory specialists for the Big Four and boutique firms. Over nearly two decades, that work evolved into private client advisory recruitment - including partners and senior advisers for firms like PwC and large family offices.

Those relationships led to direct work with private clients themselves. Founders and owners began asking for help with their leadership appointments, not just advisory recruitment.

Ben now works exclusively with private and founder-led businesses when progress has stalled, growth has outpaced the team, or a critical appointment carries real weight. In private business, people decisions shape legacy. Ben's role is to ensure these decisions are made at their full potential - not settled for.
